In its published US method, Spotify ranks Wrapped podcasts by how many different people actually listen, not by total plays or followers. A listener counts if they played at least two minutes of an episode or at least 50% of it. We found no separate India method published.

Does Wrapped count November and December listening?

Count them in the table above: The Horror Show at #2, The Desi Crime Podcast at #3, Horror Time at #7, SR PAY at #8 and Pretkotha at #9. The Stories of Mahabharata at #5 is also narrative. The Ranveer entries and Shamani’s own show at #1 are the interview-style names on the list.
Pretkotha is a Bengali show, and several of the others are in Hindi. So language is not a barrier to a Spotify ranking, and a regional audience can be a big one.
