Rajasthani Podcast Scene: Rising Shows and Why It’s Booming

Rajasthani, Marwadi and Shekhawati stories are still under-served on audio. Here is who is already making shows, why regional content is growing, and how to start yours.

Solo creator with a guitar on the mustard wall set at Oskillo Studio Jaipur, ideal for a Rajasthani folk music podcast
Quick answer: You can already find a Rajasthani podcast in a few forms: Padharo Mhare Podcast on culture and people, Marwadi Talks on Spotify for heritage stories, and Jaipur Bytes from the Jaipur Literature Festival. The list is short, and regional language podcasts in India are growing, so Rajasthani niches are open for new creators.

If you search for a Rajasthani podcast today, you will find a few good shows and a lot of empty space. Most audio from Jaipur is festival content, interviews in Hindi or institutional shows. Few shows are made in Rajasthani languages such as Marwari, Dhundhari or Shekhawati. At Oskillo Studio in Vaishali Nagar, we would love to see more regional voices on the mic. This post maps who is out there, why regional content is growing, and where the open niches are.

Key takeaways

  • A handful of Rajasthani and Marwadi shows exist, but the list is short compared with Hindi and English.
  • Jaipur Bytes, the official podcast of the Jaipur Literature Festival, comes from the festival and institutional side of Jaipur audio, not from Rajasthani-language creators.
  • One report puts Hindi at about 38% of Indian podcasting, and regional content is growing with Tier-2 and Tier-3 listeners.
  • We found no dedicated coverage of Shekhawati history or Marwari business communities, and could not verify a dedicated folk-music show.
  • You do not need a big setup. You need a clear dialect, a clear format and clean audio.

Which Rajasthani podcasts can you listen to today?

Today you can find a few Rajasthani-flavoured shows: Padharo Mhare Podcast on culture and people, Marwadi Talks on Spotify for heritage stories, and an older Marwari story series from Marwari Radio. The list is short. That is why a well-made rajasthan culture podcast stands out quickly.

Here is what we could verify from each show’s own pages. We did not find ranking or listener data for any of them, so we do not rank them.

Show What it covers Where to find it
Padharo Mhare Podcast Hosted by KS Rathore. Describes itself as an authentic Rajasthani podcast featuring saints, creators and warriors. Guests include singer Puran Gurjar and Shruti Maheshwari on Rajasthani culture and women. Show website
Marwadi Talks Marwadi history, society, culture, heritage and stories, published by dharmendra sundesha. Spotify
बातां री लड़ी (Marwari Radio) Short Marwari stories. The episodes we saw are dated June 2020. Apple Podcasts

Padharo Mhare also has an episode on Rani Padmini and Rajputi history. That suggests heritage stories are a natural episode topic. Check each show’s own page for current episodes and guests.

Which Jaipur podcasts on YouTube and Jaipur Bytes should you know?

Jaipur names worth knowing are Jaipur Bytes, the official podcast of the Jaipur Literature Festival, plus shows such as The Jaipur Dialogues on YouTube and Jaipur Junction Podcast. Feedspot’s list of Jaipur podcasts is mostly festival or institutional content, with few Rajasthani-language shows.

Jaipur Bytes

Jaipur Bytes is the festival’s own podcast. Its 2026 season, listed on iHeart, includes Episode 7 with Anurag Minus Verma on content and the algorithm, and Episode 6 with Swapna Liddle on the politics of history and heritage. Later 2026 episodes on Spotify include Parvaaz on folk traditions and Stephen Alter. The festival’s X profile gives the 2026 festival dates as 15 to 19 January. Do check the host names on the platform you use, because sources differ between seasons.

Jaipur interview shows on YouTube

The Jaipur Dialogues runs YouTube podcasts with Sanjay Dixit and guests on culture, politics and geopolitics. Jaipur Junction Podcast is hosted by Aman Rajput and, by its own description, started in Jaipur in 2024. We treat its numbers as self-reported. For a jaipur podcast youtube search, these are the shows we found, and Feedspot’s Jaipur list itself has few Rajasthani-language shows. That is the gap.

Why are regional language podcasts in India booming?

Regional language podcasts in India are growing because cheap data and smartphones have brought audio to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, and reports list rising demand for regional language content. IMARC puts the India podcasting market at USD 840.72 million in 2024, growing 28.22% a year through 2033.

Here is the evidence we are comfortable quoting, with the source for each:

  • IMARC lists rising demand for regional language content as a growth driver, and says smartphones and cheap data have made audio accessible in smaller cities.
  • Another report estimates Hindi at about 38% of the Indian podcast market, with Tamil and Telugu growing fastest and North India high-volume.
  • A creator-economy blog, citing India Hood, says the regional OTT platform Stage grew revenue sixfold to ₹111 crore in FY25, driven by Haryanvi, Rajasthani and Bhojpuri content. This is secondary reporting, so read it as a signal, not a proof.

Market-size numbers differ from report to report, so treat them as direction, not as exact figures. We quote one report and name it, rather than averaging them.

There is one more signal that costs nothing to check. Rajasthani Reels and Shorts creators are also active on Instagram and YouTube. We have not verified any follower counts, so we are not quoting them, but you can open a few profiles yourself and read the comments. If viewers ask for longer versions of a story, a podcast is where that longer version lives.

Where is the gap in Rajasthani, Marwadi and Shekhawati niches?

The biggest gaps are folk music, Shekhawati history, Marwari business communities and shows that stay in one dialect from start to finish. In our search we found no dedicated coverage of Shekhawati history or Marwari business communities, could not verify a dedicated folk-music show, and found no source comparing Rajasthani-language shows with Hindi shows made in Rajasthan.

Niche What we found Episode idea
Folk music Parvaaz appears as a Jaipur Bytes guest, but we could not verify a show built around folk musicians. One artist, one instrument, one story behind a song
Shekhawati history A shekhawati history podcast has no dedicated coverage we could find. Havelis, local legends and families, told by people from the region
Marwari business communities No dedicated show surfaced in our search. How a family business moved across cities, in the founder’s own words
Dialect-first shows A marwadi podcast youtube search gave us little we could verify. A single dialect, with a Hindi summary in the description

Two practical points stay unanswered across the web. First, dialect choice. Marwari, Mewari, Dhundhari and Shekhawati differ a lot, so pick the one you actually speak at home. Second, search. Many listeners type in Devanagari, so write your episode titles in Devanagari and add a short Hinglish or English line in the description.

Local brands can also sponsor heritage shows. We have no verified rate card to quote, so we will not invent one. A sponsor-ready show simply needs a steady schedule and clean audio.

How do you launch a Rajasthani language podcast? (checklist)

To start a podcast in Hindi or Rajasthani, choose one dialect and one format, write ten episode topics, record clean audio, edit with captions, and publish on YouTube and Spotify together. Do these in order, and keep the first season small.

  1. Pick one dialect. Do not mix Marwari and Dhundhari in the same episode unless that is your concept.
  2. Pick one format. Solo storytelling, host and guest, or a panel. Interviews are the easiest to repeat every week.
  3. List ten episodes first. If you cannot name ten topics, narrow the niche.
  4. Plan the guest conversation. A rough question flow works better than a full script, because natural speech is what listeners come for.
  5. Fix your audio. At home, a dynamic mic such as the Shure MV7X XLR mic with a recorder like the Zoom PodTrak P8 is a solid start. Or rent a treated room.
  6. Record video too. A 4K multicam recording gives you the full episode and also the clips.
  7. Clip for Reels and Shorts. Cut three to five short moments per episode, with Devanagari captions and a Hindi subtitle option for wider reach.
  8. Publish everywhere. Put the full episode on YouTube and Spotify, and use the clips to point people to it.

If your guest is a folk musician, record each instrument on its own mic in a quiet room. Live vocals and percussion can overload a weak setup. That is where a soundproof space helps most.

Can a podcast make money in a regional language? Sponsorship is the usual route, and the growth reports above point to rising regional demand, though none of them promises earnings. We have no verified earning figures, so treat income as something you build after a consistent first season.
